Who we are and what we're about
At PRO Kayak Fishing, we know kayak fishing!"
- Eric and Tom
As the other half of PKF, Eric is who most of PRO Kayak Fishing's customers have contact with, handling orders and fielding calls. Eric grew up exploring and fishing for trout with his Dad in the creeks, rivers, and lakes of the Sierra National Forest. These fisheries are still some of his favorite spots to look for trout. At the age of 10 he was introduced to saltwater fishing when his family relocated to Morro Bay, CA. From that time on he was hooked on the "salt". Growing up at the beach allowed him to fish the Pacific waters of Central California’s beaches, bays, jetties, and piers for a variety of species from perch and rockfish to halibut and sharks.
He was initially introduced to kayak fishing by his brother and later by his brother-in-law where he really caught the kayak fishing bug. Eric says, "kayak fishing has not only become an excellent way to get offshore and target my favorite species, but has become a great way to spend time with family and friends. Already my two young boys are learning to fish from kayaks on our local bays and lakes." Eric is primarily a saltwater fisherman on California's Central Coast where he works as a Fire Captain for Cal-Fire. Along with being one of the owner/operator's of PRO Kayak Fishing, he is also a member of the Wilderness Systems Kayaks and Adventure Technology Paddles prostaff teams. He is the founder and director of the Estero Kayak Challenge fishing tournament, is a volunteer fishing guide for the local chapter of Heroes on the Water (Central Coast HOW), and is a frequent contributor to Central Coast Kayak Fishing (CCKF).
Central Coast Kayaks
In early 2016, Tom and Eric were fortunate to be given the opportunity to buy Central Coast Kayaks in Shell Beach. Central Coast Kayaks is the new home of PRO Kayak Fishing offering tours, rentals, guided kayak fishing, classes, retail sales, bait & tackle, and kayak repairs.
